One year with megan: blog Takeover

Hello! It’s Megan taking over the blog in honor of one year working at S+T! Wow, what a crazy year of learning, practicing (some tears may have been shed), and falling in love with the industry. When I started working at Sisu, I was a newly licensed esthetician with NO experience other than school (2020 during covid too, yikes!) Looking back makes me realize how much progress I have made so let’s get into a few things I’ve learned:

Set realistic expectations & goals: Not only for myself but with clients as well. Some things may take time and that's okay! Examples: improving your skin, growing out your brows, learning a new service, etc. For clients, it’s important for me to be able to set realistic goals for you and the outcome of your service. For myself, I have to be patient and realistic when it comes to learning & mastering a service. The biggest one for me has been lash extensions, when I first started out I had thought “this will be no big deal” and boy was I wrong! Almost a year later and there are still days that I want to throw my tweezers and cry. This is when I have to slow down and remember everyone started out like this, and even though giving up would be easier I have to keep pushing through to grow.

Practice Practice Practice: When it comes to mastering a new service or technique, the only way to improve is with practice! So thankful for everyone who has let me practice on them the last year to gain experience. Seriously couldn't have done it without you. When I was starting out I thought there was NO way I would ever do brows. I mean it’s on peoples face! But that is easily one of my top favorite services to offer. Keep an eye out for me expanding my service list this year.

There is always room for growth: I take education very seriously and am constantly looking for new information on how to improve my skills & knowledge in this ever changing industry. There is ALWAYS something to learn! I’m fortunate enough to have been surrounded by very talented individuals who were willing to share their expertise with me.

Confidence with my work: When I first started fresh out of school I had NO confidence in myself! I have changed so much & truly love and believe in every service I specialize in. So thankful for Lindsey for believing in me & helping me grow as an artist and individual. It’s so important to push yourself out of your comfort zone, it’s scary sometimes but always worth it to me. I’m excited for what this next year has in store and can’t wait to compare myself again this time next year.
